D-Block may be mighty but their solo albums are mighty hard to find. StylesTime Is Money has been shelved on several occasions, not knowing when and if it will see the light of day. Sheek’s After Taxes has been pushed back as well (word is that both Styles and Sheek have been given tentative release dates of October and September respectively). J-Hood continues his mixtape quest while Jadakiss is currently in the lab working on his next album.

But rumors have been brewing that there is a possibility that Jada’s album could be overseen by Jay-Z and Def Jam Records. According to MTV, rumors that Hov has been trying to pull Jada from Interscope couldn’t be confirmed by either Jay-Z or Jadakiss. But Jada didn’t deny the rumors either…

"Jay Z is one of the greatest ... entrepreneur/rapper/businessman/everything. It would be a pleasure to be on the same team with him. I don't know what the rumors are, but only time will tell, baby."

In the meanwhile, word is bubbling that P. Diddy wants the Lox back over at Bad Boy. And the word is that he would like to “re-form” the Lox. Jada spoke on that as well…

"I don't know," Jada said to MTV. "Big shout out to Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Sean Combs — all of the above. I don't know about the LOX. The LOX is already back together, but ... as far as doing a whole album with Puff, that's just talk. Everything is just rumors."

From a new Universal press release:

Major releases scheduled for the remainder of 2005 include new albums from Andrea Bocelli, Ashlee Simpson, Blink 182, Bon Jovi, Dr. Dre, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Jamie Cullum, Jay Z, Kanye West, Ludacris, Mary J. Blige, Masaharu Fukuyama, McFly, Michel Sardou, Nickelback, Rammstein, Sheryl Crow and Texas.

What do you guys think this is about? My guess is that it will be a greatest-hits type thing. I hate how they hype up these press releases and get you excited about nothing.

DMX : The Fight in the Dog
By Amanda Diva

DMX is the last of a dying breed in Hip-Hop – the unpredictable. These days everything from singles to beef has become formula concocted within boardrooms and color-by-numbers marketing plan. But, nobody gave the plans to DMX, the Yonkers-bred lyricist. And fortunately, if they did make him privy to what he’s supposed to do, he probably wouldn’t do it anyway. The Rap maverick is set to release his new album, Here We Go Again, but X is already expressing his mind state on producer Dame Grease’s “Gangsta Breed” mixtape. “The industry don't give a f**k about you/ The industry couldn't make a dime without you/ I'm sick of this industry s**t/ The industry playing you like a industry b*tch," he spews.

Yet, after once announcing his retirement and distaste for the Rap game, DMX is back. And the Dog is as vocal as ever with an opinion on Def Jam under president Jay-Z, the police, his record and his own capricious nature.

X beefin with Jay?Collapse )

I'm going to the concert myself but you can also watch it on MTV all day tomorrow. He is scheduled to perform at 3:40 EST.

Jay just lost his nephew Colleek in a car crash the morning of the BET Awards so I was surprised to hear that he would still perform.

Anyway anyone else going to the concert??

Jay-Z soaks up the love

'Hova! Hova! Hova!'

Game's performance will undoubtedly be the one most talked about for the weeks to come — however, the highest point of the show came via a man who wasn't even on the bill: Jay-Z.

Hov is the undisputed king of Hot 97's Summer Jams. He keeps the venue full, and no one leaves feeling cheated after the concert. Since he stopped performing at Summer Jam, there's been an obvious void. He hasn't hit the stage since 2001, when he brought out Michael Jackson and debuted a little record you might remember called "The Takeover" (see "Jay-Z's Special Guest A Thriller For Summer Jam Crowd").

Jay came out this year as a special guest of scheduled act Kanye West — who also brought out Cam'ron and Common in separate instances. The Roc was definitely in the building, as tens of thousands of fans immediately yelled at the top of their lungs when Jay arrived during "Diamonds." For several minutes, Jay stood onstage while the crowd used their voices, letting him know they were grateful that he was hitting the Summer Jam stage. The ovation was so overwhelming that you can bet they wouldn't be too upset if he announced that he is calling the whole retirement thing off. Jigga then performed both "P.S.A." and "Encore."

Jay-Z, Game Highlight Lackluster Summer Jam Concert

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Jun 6, 2005 — Jay-Z has long referred to himself as "Jay-Hova, the god MC." At Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert, the semi-retired rapper and current Def Jam president lived up to his name by accomplishing what seemed impossible: He roused an indifferent audience to its feet.

The West Coast gangsta Game provided a few sparks Sunday night with an incendiary attack on 50 Cent. But when Kanye West introduced Jay-Z as a special surprise guest, the crowd of 50,000 inside Giants Stadium erupted, screaming and waving for the legend.

Jay-Z stood silent for a few moments amid the applause, then performed his songs "Public Service Announcement" and "Encore" from "The Black Album," which Jay-Z has touted as his final release. The crowd faithfully chanted the lyrics, outstretching a sea of arms with the thumb and index fingers forming the diamond-shaped symbol of Jay's Roc-a-Fella records label.

For New York's notoriously fickle rap audience, Jay-Z's appearance was the highlight of an otherwise lackluster event.

DMB, U2 Lead Live 8 Shows

Musicians unite for concerts to eliminate poverty

The Dave Matthews Band, U2, Madonna, 50 Cent and Paul McCartney will headline Live 8, a series of five concerts around the globe on July 2nd. The mission of the shows, spearheaded by Live Aid organizer Bob Geldof, is to urge citizens of the world's most powerful nations to call on President Bush and leaders of the other seven wealthiest countries to act to eliminate poverty at the G8 Africa Summit on July 6th.

"The G8 leaders have it within their power to alter history," said Geldof from London today at an intercontinental conference. (Dave Matthews was stationed in Philadelphia.) "They will only have the will to do so if millions of people show them that enough is enough."

The five Live 8 concerts will take place at Hyde Park in London, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Circus Maximus in Rome, and the Museum of Art in Philadelphia. Among the other artists set to perform are Coldplay, Mariah Carey, Sting, Jay-Z, R.E.M., Lauryn Hill, the Killers, Elton John, the Cure and Brian Wilson (see lineups below).

The concerts will be televised (a U.S. network is yet to be determined) and Web cast on America Online.

The Live 8 lineups:

Hyde Park, London: Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Dido, Keane, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Muse, Scissor Sisters, Paul McCartney, Joss Stone, Stereophonics, Sting, Robbie Williams, U2, R.E.M., Velvet Revolver, Bob Geldof, the Killers, The Cure, Snow Patrol

Museum of Art, Philadelphia: Bon Jovi, Maroon 5, P Diddy, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, the Dave Matthews Band, Sarah McLachlan, Rob Thomas, Keith Urban, 50 Cent, Kaiser Chiefs

Eiffel Tower, Paris: Jamiroquai, Craig David, Youssou N'Dour, Yannick Noah, Andrea Bocelli, Calo Gero, Kyo, Placebo, Axelle Red, Johnny Halliday, Manu Chao, Renaud

Brandenburg Gate, Berlin: A-ha, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Brian Wilson, Lauryn Hill, Bap, Die Toten Hosen, Peter Maffay

Circus Maximus, Rome: Duran Duran, Faith Hill, Irene Grandi, Jovanotti, Tim McGraw, Nek, Laura Pasini, Vasco Rossi, Zucchero

-Rolling Stone

I'm going to be in NYC for an extended 4th of July weekend so I might make a stop to Philly for this. It all depends on whether my cousins in the city are willing to take the two-hour bus ride with us.
